There is a double standard: White terrorists are dealt with as lone wolves, Islamists are existential threatsBY DAVID SIROTATimothy McVeigh, Osama Bin Laden(Credit: AP/David Longstreath)
I say…..I am sick of these white MALE Metrosexuals…who want to project their guilt onto all white males….for their own privileges, not because they have earned it, but because they were in the right WHITE family…or had the right family connections! I am NOT going to keep silent any longer….and will try to expose these white America haters….for what they are…..White racists! PRIVILEGE? Who has privilege? Not white males in the rural countryside….nor poor white males….or even middle income white males…the privilege this guy should be railing against is his OWN….and it is probably based on a guilt that he harbors..because he himself has achieved something….that he did not deserve!
As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.
This has been most obvious in the context of recent mass shootings. In those awful episodes, a religious or ethnic minority group lacking such privilege would likely be collectively slandered and/or targeted with surveillance or profiling (or worse) if some of its individuals comprised most of the mass shooters. However, white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated/targeted for those shootings — even though most come at the hands of white dudes.
Likewise, in the context of terrorist attacks, such privilege means white non-Islamic terrorists are typically portrayed not as representative of whole groups or ideologies, but as “lone wolf” threats to be dealt with as isolated law enforcement matters. Meanwhile, non-white or developing-world terrorism suspects are often reflexively portrayed as representative of larger conspiracies, ideologies and religions that must be dealt with as systemic threats — the kind potentially requiring everything from law enforcement action to military operations to civil liberties legislation to foreign policy shifts.
“White privilege is knowing that even if the bomber turns out to be white, no one will call for your group to be profiled as terrorists as a result, subjected to special screening or threatened with deportation,” writes author Tim Wise. “White privilege is knowing that if this bomber turns out to be white, the United States government will not bomb whatever corn field or mountain town or stale suburb from which said bomber came, just to ensure that others like him or her don’t get any ideas. And if he turns out to be a member of the Irish Republican Army we won’t bomb Dublin. And if he’s an Italian-American Catholic we won’t bomb the Vatican.”
Isay to WISE? wise? hey…..maybe we “white folk”…you know, those of us who live in those mountains…or in those “stale” suburbs or corn fields…maybe we just don’t think in “GROUP”….to us, GROUP is nothing other than…I can’t take care of myself…I NEED someone else to TAKE CARE of me…and we don’t believe in Stalinist collective punishment!!!!
Because of these undeniable and pervasive double standards, the specific identity of the Boston Marathon bomber (or bombers) is not some minor detail — it will almost certainly dictate what kind of governmental, political and societal response we see in the coming weeks. That means regardless of your particular party affiliation, if you care about everything from stopping war to reducing the defense budget to protecting civil liberties to passing immigration reform, you should hope the bomber was a white domestic terrorist. Why? Because only in that case will privilege work to prevent the Boston attack from potentially undermining progress on those other issues.
OMG…..so to this guilt ridden white male….progress is made when we stop the war on terrorists…cut our defenses…protect civil liberties (whose, is not mentioned)….and expecting illegal aliens to obey our laws. Amazing…isn’t it?
To know that’s true is to simply consider how America reacts to different kinds of terrorism.
Though FBI data show fewer terrorist plots involving Muslims than terrorist plots involving non-Muslims, America has mobilized a full-on war effort exclusively against the prospect of Islamic terrorism. Indeed, the moniker “War on Terrorism” has come to specifically mean “War on Islamic Terrorism,” involving everything from new laws like the Patriot Act, to a new torture regime, to new federal agencies like the Transportation Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security, to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to mass surveillance of Muslim communities.
FBI data shows? and this guy simply leaves it at that….he really thinks that we are somehow going to believe that white guys are the ones running around bombing people in Africa…Iraq, Afghanistan……I almost want to puke! How does one combat a LIAR????? A Distorter of the truth and reality…I wonder if these people even have the ability to see reality?
By contrast, even though America has seen a consistent barrage of attacks from domestic non-Islamic terrorists, the privilege and double standards baked into our national security ideologies means those attacks have resulted in no systemic action of the scope marshaled against foreign terrorists. In fact, it has been quite the opposite — according to Darryl Johnson, the senior domestic terrorism analyst at the Department of Homeland Security, the conservative movement backlash to merely reporting the rising threat of such domestic terrorism resulted in DHS seriously curtailing its initiatives against that particular threat. (Irony alert: When it comes specifically to fighting white non-Muslim domestic terrorists, the right seems to now support the very doctrine it criticized Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry for articulating — the doctrine that sees fighting terrorism as primarily “an intelligence-gathering, law-enforcement, public-diplomacy effort” and not something more systemic.)
so…this jerk would have Obomber go to Newtown, Ct and bomb it with drones… or bomb the colleges that Laughner and Holmes attended? How about their very Liberal parents? Shall we deny them from raising children?
Enter the Boston bombing. Coming at the very moment the U.S. government is planning to withdraw from Afghanistan, considering cuts to the Pentagon budget, discussing civil liberties principles and debating landmark immigration legislation, the attack could easily become the fulcrum of all of those contentious policy debates — that is, depending on the demographic profile of the assailant.
oh really….your pathetic….
If recent history is any guide, if the bomber ends up being a white anti-government extremist, white privilege will likely mean the attack is portrayed as just an isolated incident — one that has no bearing on any larger policy debates. Put another way, white privilege will work to not only insulate whites from collective blame, but also to insulate the political debate from any fallout from the attack.
Now I must ask….just what would this “collective” punishment entail? And the debate, just what would that sound like? Maybe we would outlaw the Republican Party, after all…look where they get their support from… the countryside…where people believe that they can support themselves….and they believe in God and think that global warming is not happening….
It will probably be much different if the bomber ends up being a Muslim and/or a foreigner from the developing world. As we know from our own history, when those kind of individuals break laws in such a high-profile way, America often cites them as both proof that entire demographic groups must be targeted, and that therefore a more systemic response is warranted. At that point, it’s easy to imagine conservatives citing Boston as a reason to block immigration reform defense spending cuts and the Afghan War withdrawal and to further expand surveillance and other encroachments on civil liberties.
If that sounds hard to believe, just look at yesterday’s comments by right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham, whose talking points often become Republican Party doctrine. Though authorities haven’t even identified a suspect in the Boston attack, she (like other conservatives) seems to already assume the assailant is foreign, and is consequently citing the attack as rationale to slam the immigration reform bill.
The same Laura Ingraham, of course, was one of the leading voices criticizing the Department of Homeland Security for daring to even report on right-wing domestic terrorism. In that sense, she perfectly embodies the double standard that, more than anything, will determine the long-term political impact of the Boston bombing.
hey Sirota…..why don’t you take your guilt and hate somewhere else…we are tired of it…we have had enough of the BLAME America…and especially WHITE America….and we will no longer remain silent…..

Tarantula The Size Of A Human Face Discovered1:51pm UK, Thursday 04 April 2013
Scientists have found an enormous, previously unknown, species of venomous spider in a remote Sri Lankan village.Poecilotheria rajaeiThe newly-found spider (Pics: British Tarantula Society/ Ranil Nanayakkara)
The giant tarantula is as big as a human face.
Its legs, which have unique daffodil-yellow markings, span a massive 20cm (eight inches). The arachnid also has a distinctive pink band around its body.
The new species was found in the war-torn north of the South Asian country by scientists from Sri Lanka’s Biodiversity Education and Research (BER) organisation.
It has been named Poecilotheria rajaei, in recognition of a senior police officer called Michael Rajakumar Purajah who guided the research team through a hazardous jungle overrun by civil unrest in order to seek out the spider.Poecilotheria rajaeiThe spider is said to prefer living on old trees
The arachnid had originally been presented to BER three years ago by villagers in Mankulam who had killed a male specimen.
Scientists immediately realised the dead spider was not like anything they already knew and a group was charged with finding any living relatives.
The living Poecilotheria rajaei were eventually discovered in the former doctor’s quarters of the village’s hospital.
According to wired.com, Ranil Nanayakkara, the co-founder of BER, said: “They are quite rare.Poecilotheria rajaeiThe tarantula is characterised by its yellow legs and pink band
“They prefer well-established old trees, but due to deforestation the number have dwindled and due to lack of suitable habitat they enter old buildings.”
The website described the tarantula as “colourful, fast and venomous”.
The species is said to be related to a class of South American tarantula that includes the Goliath bird-eater, one of the world’s largest spiders.
In other reports Mr Nanayakkara is quoted as saying none of the tarantulas found in Sri Lanka have bites that are deadly to humans. However, the Poecilotheria rajaei would be able to kill animals as large as mice, lizards and small birds and snakes.Poecilotheria rajaeiA male member of the Poecilotheria rajaei species
Peter Kirk, who covered the discovery for the British Tarantula Society’s
journal, told Sky News: “Ranil has been working on these spiders since 2009 out in Sri Lanka and this is the first of what is thought to be a number of new species he has discovered in what was previously the inaccessible northern region of the island.
“It demonstrates that wildlife continues to survive whilst we are in the throes of conflict and that they can adapt to its changing environment – but also highlights that we risk destroying the habitats of species new to science and condemning them to extinction before they are even discovered.”Recommended Stories

Exclusive: Illegal Border Crossings Double, Border Becomes Less Secure as Beltway Gets Close to Deal on Immigration Reform
As the immigration reform Gang of Eight inside the Beltway prepares to announce a deal later this week, claiming border security will come before a path to citizenship for millions of illegals, Border Patrol agents have seen illegal border crossings double and warn the cutting of agent work hours will only result in less border security, not more.
Apr 01, 2013 06:55 AM EST
“We’ve seen the number of illegal aliens double, maybe even triple since amnesty talk started happening,” an agent toldTownhall, who asked to remain unnamed due to fears of retaliation within Customs and Border Protection [CBP], something he said is common. “A lot of these people, although not the majority, are criminals or aggravated felons. This is a direct danger to our communities.”
Data obtained by Townhall and reported within CBP from February 5 through March 1, 2013 shows 504 illegal aliens were spotted exploiting the Tucson/Nogales area, 189 were caught on CBP intelligence cameras. Of those 504, only 174 were apprehended and 32 of the 189 on camera were carrying large drug load packs for Mexican cartels. Some were armed with AK-47 style weapons.
Below are selected photos obtained by Townhall from CBP intelligence cameras in Southern Arizona near the border with Mexico. Sensitive information has been redacted in order to protect the security and identity of the camera locations.
Last week, Fox News reported sections of the border will soon become unpatrolled as hours for on-the-ground agents are cut. Townhall has learned Border Patrol agents working the border have been fully funded, yet internal political battles within CBP may be causing funds to be funneled to managers, rather than those getting their boots dirty on patrols.
“Customs and Border Protection has been given enough money to fully staff the border but has chosen to use the money elsewhere, we believe it is to fund the salaries of Supervisory CBP Officers. The money they are diverting was to go to AUO (Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime) which is actually straight pay and is used to pay Border Patrol Agents for anything past eight hours. Being that we have to maintain staffing 24/7 this is a huge part of border security. The criminals and drugs don’t stop coming so we have to make sure we have people out there. Cutting AUO will be a 30% pay cut for our agents but more importantly a minimum 20% loss of staffing out in the field,” Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council Shawn Moran tells Townhall. “It is internal politics within CBP and also with immigration reform. There are still battles between legacy Customs, INS, and Border Patrol managers as to the direction CBP takes and how the funds are being used. Meanwhile both parties claim no immigration reform until the border is secured, well this surely will not secure the border.”
As sequestration goes into full effect April 7 and a deal in Washington on immigration reform gets locked in, illegal crossings are expected to get worse.
“We have seen increased crossings and smuggling since word of staffing cuts began circulating. The illegals have even told us that is why they tried crossing. The border is safer but by no means secure,” Moran says.
Another agent expressed the same sentiment, saying when apprehended, some illegal aliens ask where they can go to find amnesty.
Despite border security being put further at risk through bad policy, the push for immigration reform well before full border security is ongoing. The AFL-CIO reached a deal with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on a guest worker program late last Friday. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said the Gang of Eight has reached a deal on immigration reform on CNN’s State of the Union over the weekend, but Republican Senator Marco Rubio has said reports of a deal are pre-mature.
